Beach Tennis Court Construction
As beach tennis grows in popularity, its courts become an appealing addition for homeowners and community members alike. Sport Surfaces LLC shares the details of this game and how you can get a beach tennis court installation of your own.
The Game of Beach Tennis and Beach Tennis Construction
Playing this sport is simple and enjoyable. Beach tennis is more straightforward to learn than other racquet sports, so it is becoming increasingly popular. A beginner can go to the beach, grab a racquet or paddle, and start rallying immediately. It is much simpler for those who have played badminton, table tennis, or tennis.
One can play beach tennis recreationally and competitively because it appeals to a broader audience, including non-athletes. Like tennis, one plays beach tennis on a volleyball-sized court and, naturally, on the sand. Having a paddle or racquet and a tennis ball would be best. But don’t think of it as a flash-bang sport — it takes skill and talent.
What Do You Need for a Beach Tennis Court?
All you need is a beach volleyball court, a net, a ball, and a racquet or paddle to begin playing beach tennis.
Stage 2 tennis balls, which are half orange and half yellow in hue, are ideal for use in beach tennis. Because stage 2 balls are slower and softer, the rally lengthens, increasing player enjoyment and lowering player risk.
Beach Tennis USA and Beach Tennis (Paddle)
The two primary game varieties are beach tennis using a paddle racquet and beach tennis USA. The USA version of the sport is quite similar to beach volleyball except using a tennis ball and racquetball.
Beach paddleball, mainly played abroad, is another name for beach tennis that one plays with a solid paddle racquet.
Benefits of Installing a Beach Tennis Court
Whether you plan on installing a beach tennis court for a public or private community, these additions offer a wide variety of benefits such as:
- Improve your general aesthetics and message: Courts within a community signal that the area is helping better its residents. A well-maintained court also offers excellent visuals for your community and those who wish to join.
- Create a safe area for fun and socialization: Your beach tennis court will serve as more than a place to play. It’s an area for socialization as community members meet to spend time together playing or watching others play. Installing your court in a safe and enjoyable area can also encourage socialization.
- Promote exercise and fitness: Offering convenient access to a court can help people get more exercise.
- Introduce new activities: By placing a court in the community, you allow more people to learn the game for free or at a reduced price instead of paying for lessons or obtaining a private club membership.
- Create opportunities for instructors: If community members show an interest, you can use your court as a place to have instructors come in and teach the community beach tennis.
- Learn life lessons: Having a court within your community is an excellent way for kids throughout your neighborhood to learn important life lessons. Playing sports allows children to learn fair play and teamwork, and it may help them create a better sense of community.

About Beach Tennis
Beach tennis is a sport that combines elements of tennis and volleyball and is played on the beach. There are two forms of beach tennis: Beach Tennis USA and Beach Tennis with a paddle racket.
Beach tennis USA is similar to beach volleyball but played with a tennis ball and racket. The rules combine tennis and volleyball. If the ball hits the sand, a point is scored. The scoring is the same as tennis: 15 – 30 – 40, and no-ad at deuce.
The format for beach tennis USA events depends on the number of entrants, the number of courts available, and the time available. Usually, the preliminary rounds are pool play. In pool play, there is a pool of four, and one team plays the other three teams in the pool. The top teams advance to the next pool.
A sport similar to beach tennis with a solid paddle racket but no net is played in other countries, sometimes called beach paddle ball, and in Israel, it’s called market; in Brazil, it is fresco bol.
